Dr. Torres specializes in adult cardiac surgery with a focus on valvular disease and minimally invasive procedures (TAVR). Before joining Phoenix Cardiac Surgery in 2014 he was a Visiting Associate doing training and research at the University of Iowa.
Fluent in Spanish and English, he received his medical degree from University of New Mexico School of Medicine, and completed his surgery residency and cardiothoracic surgery fellowship at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
Dr. Torres contributions to medicine intersect with his love of art in the form of medical illustrations. Besides drawing technical illustrations for publications, he also creates portrait art. Dr. Torres also enjoys martial arts. He is 2nd Degree Black Belt and instructor of Taekwondo.
